Thank you Josy Park ♡
Today, I met a girl. Her name was Josy.
The first time I met her was actually on Instagram.
I could tell that she was from Paris and although I was nervous, I decided to ask her to meet up with me; she said yes!
Josy was such an extraordinary person.
Her story of why she came to Paris all the way from Korea, and why she decided to stay was just so...inspirational.
After finishing her Masters in Paris, she found a French company that she could work at and provide her visa.
Now, she's found herself a home here.
All this time, I was turning off the possibilities of working outside of Japan, when there were people like her, who worked hard, learnt a new language and made it happen.
Listening to her situation and the choices she'd made, just made me realize the definition of "taking chances" and the numerous possibilities that I had.
---------
We met up twice in Paris.
First time, we had dinner at this amazing houmous bar, Levantine.
Josy was friends with the owner and told me how he made the restaurant using crowdfunding.(amazed again)
Anyways, She talked about how the very restaurant where we were at, was actually only 2 restaurants next to the actual restaurant where the November 2015 terrorist attack occurred.
I could feel my feet losing strength and fear arousing.
All of this news I had heard only on the TV, was suddenly becoming so true and near.
The street I walked to get to this restaurant, the terrorists had walked too with their guns, as well as the victims had walked to get to a restaurant for a casual meet up or whatever plans they had.
She talked about that very night, she was in a bar on the same street, and that they shut down the place. They told anybody who lived close by to go back to their houses and she remembers running as fast as she could, to get to her home. As she ran though, she could see blood everywhere.
This was just crazy to hear that a person in front of me, had gone through such thing.
I asked her why she didn't leave Paris even after this.
She answered with a simple answer, this was her home.
That night over 130 innocent people passed away and out of those victims, young people were a huge target.
Just to think, people who were the same age as me, had forcefully ended their lives was just,,heartbreaking and regretful.
Josy and I met the following Saturday again, we went to the Père Lachaise Cemetery.Père Lachaise Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Paris with over one million passed lives buried.
Out of the 1 million bodies, there were famous people buried here as well like Frederic Chopin, Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde and so on.
FC is for Frederic Chopin.
This is Jim Morrison's grave.
For him, he has too big of a following that he had a barricade around his. Apparently fans came to smoke pot or have sex on the grave that it was became too much, they had no choice.
The cemetery was such a peaceful and quiet place.
It's weird to think that there were so many dead bodies buried there and haunting in a way but it was just so beautiful as well.
It was like a place to celebrate their legacy.
Amongst the graves, I found a beautiful young girl's picture. The grave read November 2015. It was one of the victims from the very night.
It was just a weird feeling, to realize that all of these people, Chopin, Jim Morrison, an old politician from the 1800s and this young girl who just recently passed away, were all in the same "place" right now.
Then again, I guess we all do, or will.
Until we do though, until we enter our eternal sleep, we just got to make every second count.
Thank you Josy Park ♡
